Cellular Phone Sound
Effects Kit
This series of kits, known as chip-on-board or COB, have application
specific IC's at the heart. This means that each IC has only one very specific
application, and that it was designed to do that specific job with as few external
components as possible. For example, the CK1203 has a COB that is a CMOS VLSI that makes
four sound effects for the model railroader. (VLSI=very large scale integration) These
COB's are small and should be quite concealable in most applications.
The COB used here was designed for applications in fake cellular phones,
childrens' cellular phones. etc. This one is a lot of fun to play with, it produces eight
sounds typical of cellular phones. Operates from 2.5 to 5 volts DC.
